I was able to serve as the Diversity Action Team (DAT) chair and was responsible for organizing DEI activities at the facility. I was able to create a DAT SharePoint page to highlight activities and the work of the committee.

Participation in an interdisciplinary project: Inpatient to Surgery Process Improvement Project
I was lead on the inpatient to surgery process improvement project that involved representation from front-line team members and leaders from various departments collaborating on solutions to several problems identified with the process. Primary RNs were unaware of scheduled cases and Covid tests were incomplete; changes included OR secretary/charge nurse to alert primary nurses of pending scheduled cases with a reminder to order and collect Covid swab. Pre-procedure checklist was not complete; solutions included Day Surgery and Primary RN completed full checklist together during handoff. Inpatients were holding in unoccupied surgical holding area; solutions included transport to Day Surgery patient rooms and handoff to Day Surgery nurse for continuity of care and patient safety.
